SHEER DELIGHT...

I cannot imagine my life without color...
especially when it comes to fabric.
Haveing 5 sweet Grandaughters to sew for completes the blessing.
I showed this little dress on a previous post with a shabby rose on the shoulder...
Changed my mind!...she's a ballerina kind of girl and I thought this little flower looked more like her!
That's the fun of sewing....Noooo-one's the BOSS of you!!!!!
Remember saying that when you were little?... "Your Not the Boss of Me!"...Ha!
Who am I kidding....I still think it at times!!!!

Don't these colors say "SUMMER"...!!!!
Finished products to follow soon...!

Started cutting this out today....

Fabric is so wonderful today...a good quilt store carries the best selection of colors and patterns.
If your going to put all the hours and effort into making a creation...You should get the best fabric you can afford.
It will stand the test of time...and who knows ..It could become an Heirloom.

One of my Grandaughters wore the dress to Kindergarten, that her mommy wore the first day of school...
That made me smile!
(Wow....just realized I've been sewing a while!)

I'm sewing...

FREE SHABBY ROSE TUTORIAL...for my Peeps!!!

After numerous requests for a "HOW TO" on these little Shabby Roses...I thought,

Why not do a "TUTORIAL"...

So here goes...

Start with choosing the Fabric ...Muslin, lace and ribbon works well too.

I chose this because I like the flecks of color that it gives the Rose... Cut a 2" by 3-4 ft.strip...

If you don't have fabric long enough , just sew strips together....the Shabbier the better I say!
Cutting WIDER strips will make a bigger rose...visa versa...

Once you've started the strip with your scissors...RIP the strip ...both sides.

Pull the loose threads away from the strip...both sides.

The more you pull away the shabbier the rose...

Just kind of experiment with this...to your liking.

Fold your strips lengthwise...right sides up , and press the edge with your thumb lightly ...

just to give you a nice fold.

You can use an iron...I prefer my thumb...gives a softer edge.

Your preference...

This whole process should not take more then 15 minutes from beginning to end...

So have fun with this....

Start by making a KNOT at one end of your strip
Sorry ...I for got this photo...

Please save your comments til the end....Thanks!
Start twisting the fabric around your knot... Use whatever glue suites you...I used this because it's clear...

Just a dot to hold...keep turning..

This is where I set the rose down on the table....and DON'T pick it up again until it's done!

turn your rose clockwise and fold the fabric up to make each petal ...with just a touch of glue in each...

You will begin to get comfortable with your technique and the process will become

smooth ....

I used just a dot of glue as I twisted up each petal...use sparingly...

Continue to twist and turn as your rose rests on the table....until you get two the end...

Liberally glue the bottom and fold over the end...trim with scissors so there is no excess hanging over the edge. Let dry.

Now...HOLD YOUR BREATH....

turn over...
WHO-HOO!!!!!!!

MAGIC....that's the fun part! What your looking at as you make these is the bottom...

I found it easier to just rest the rose on the table and turn..face side down...

They always turn out, everytime! Add embellishments of your choice!...Pearls, buttons, or simply nothing...

Supplys...

Think I'll add this one to this little dress I just finished for my Grandaughter....

The uses for these little Roses are just as large as your imagination!...

I hope that was helpful...

Would love to hear if you were inspired !

Have a "Rosey" day sweet peeps!

PONDERING..."COMFORT"...

I landed on this....
TEXTURES are huge to me...
Fabric...
glass.
paper...
paint...
wood...
all have such wonderful textures...
When I was very little ...I sucked my thumb...( did she just admit that?)
Yes... I did.
and I had a favorite fluffy stuffed bear, which I plucked the hairs out of and put the fuzz in the crook of my index finger and rubbed my nose with it while sucking my thumb.
Now before you sign me up for therapy, I happen to know quite a few of you did the same thing!.
It was comforting!!!!
The soft fuzzy feel on your nose...I put myself to sleep at night this way. We all like to feel comforted...
Nothings better then a soft fuzzy blanket to snuggel under when your chilled.

Now that I'm older...(and definately would need therapy If I still sucked my thumb)...I've found a new comforter.

The God of all Comfort. I've traded my bald bear for the comfort that never disappoints.

Thank You Lord for being my fuzzie...in this uncertain time.

Have a wonderful weekend my peeps!

WE ALL NEED TIME TO GET OUR "MARTHA ON"...

Had a little time to get my "Martha On" ...today...and created a little something that's been swimming around in my head for a while...
always nice to get it out of there...
so as other things can move to the forfront!..Lol...
Have been noticing these darling Shabby roses a few bloggers have made ...
figured it was my turn....I gathered my supplies and went to town!!!!

After I got the hang of the roses...(very easy by the way)...added some pearls and thought...
I'll make a necklace...
natural transition for me..seeings how Kathy's my name and Jewelry's my game!

How fun is THAT!!!!!

I stopped long enough to give you a peek...

have a few more ideas ...so I'm off to create a little more.

First ...a shot of the cutest tray I found in Lansing at the GW...
didn't even have to paint it...just a little scrubbing...

Are you finding some time to do what makes you happy today?
Hope so!

PRETTY GAL WITH NICE BONES...Looking for a nice family...

Been searching Hi & LOW for the right size coffee table for the center of the living room...
when I spotted this ..ahum...not so pretty gal at a GW...
I thought she had good bones...
Loved her legs...
nice upper torso...
just the size for my small space...

Grabbed her and brought her home...
Sanded her down...
and made her part of the Family...

She preferred the shabby dress...so I consented...

Her legs trump mine altogether!...

PERFECT...

Always fun to turn an Ugly Duckling into a Beautiful "Shabby Chic...Swan!
Playing with the girls today at "Faded Charm Cottage"...for White Wednesday!!!
Just click on my post title and enjoy...
Up-Date on my Love....
Dave is now hooked up to his 6th and hopefully last chemo before surgery.
His oncologist has scheduled the "All telling" PET scan for May 10th.
We all have the highest of hopes that this scan will show that the chemo was the drug of choice that has kicked some major Cancer cells into oblivian...
We are praying....
No new spreading...
Huge tumor shrinkage to warrent surgery for the liver...and colon.
We all of course, pray for total healing ...in the Lord we know all things are possible.
Tomorrow Dave gets the chemo disconnected and he has three weeks to come down off the symptoms before the scan...
He is looking forward to doing some projects around the house and golfing...a lot!
Since his diagnoses in January...this journey has been challenging to say the least.
Not one I would have chosen...but non the less to witness Gods hand on a daily basis has been priceless.
We both comment often and wonder...
How do people get through the deep valleys in life without knowledge and belief in the Lord Jesus?
We can hardly imagine....
My next entry about this topic will be the results of the scan...
As always ...your prayers are coveted.
My sweetiest of friends...I am so thankful for.

CHASING DUCKS....

some weeks are like trying to chase a duck....
Your chances of catching one are pretty slim....

Unless of course....Your my husband....who just grabbed this guy in the park for the Grands to pet!!!!
Who does that?...
Who just grabs a duck?
The guy with his wifes name on his ring finger...that's who!

If my Papa can do it.....I'm sure I can get one too...

I'll just quietly sneek up on him and......

Hey!!!!...Come back here you ducks.....

Hope you caught all the ducks in your path this week...
Have missed all the blogging fun for the last 4 days...
anxious to check in and see what you've been up to.
Really looking forward to this weekend ...We need to get some rest and catch up !
It was 82 degrees in Lansing yesterday...
possible snow here tonight in Cadillac.
What in the world.....
xoxo~Kathy.
