NOT COMPLAINING....but where do we store all these culinary gadgets?

Trying to find space to store all the magic tools of the trade has been a challenge...

Endless boxes...brimming with cooking treasures....still to be unpacked.

I'm sure eventually we'll find a home for every important piece...
(so far they have all been important)...
I think we now have 7 or 8 wisks combined...I thought that should be plenty until I saw the Chef's big smile as he spotted a new one calling his name in the last cooking store ...
I have so much to learn!
smiling...Kathy and the Chef.

  1. Kathy, I was going to say go through it all and decide what you absolutely must keep. However, if he's the chef in the family you are in trouble. Start stacking girl!!

  5. I got the creme brulee torch, those different size ramekins, the chinese strainer, the food thermometer, etc., but your hubby has me beat with the "silicone egg poachers!!!!" LOL! Really though, you love him, and you will both find spots for his "stuff." Actually, it's HIS stuff, so he should see where he'd like to put it (how handy he needs to have a particular item, how often he uses it, etc.) and then just check with you to see if it's ok if he stores it in a certain spot, you know? Since he's the chef, you really can't decide where it goes, it's up to him. :)
Good luck and be grateful you got a nice chef cooking for you there, as I know you are!
    Best,
    Gloria

Such a happy puzzle....finding places for all this happy stuff!
We seem to be doing well though in spite of the endless boxes we're unpacking.

  11. My BIL is a Chef and he even travels with some of his cooking tools when he comes to stay with my in-laws! He brought a whisk one time and took pictures of it in different places...The Roaming Whisk instead of The Roaming Gnome. So I know how Chef's are with their kitchen gadgets, they don't like to part with them!!! Personally, I wouldn't want to...I would just enjoy the fruits of his labor!!!

  12. Start looking for good storage solutions as I don't think the chef will want to part with his tools of the trade! Happy and hard combining lives! hugs to you, Linda

  13. Amazing, isn't it, what a Chef needs? I'm sure he thinks one type of glue should be sufficent for ANY project! He will learn all about YOUR craft, too, as you move along! xo Diana

kitchen and believe me, I am using every single empty space I can find..
I have full confidence that you will make it all work...

  18. I am not a chef but cook non stop. Every once in a while, I go through my gadget drawer and bring to Goodwill what I don't use. It seems everytime I move, my drawer gets bigger and bigger! lol
I tend not to buy gadgets any more. I think that is the solution! But until then, find a container and label it so at least you can find them when you need them. lol I never can find them or forget I own them.
Anyway, when you find out what to do with them, pass that info along!
    Blessings My Friend,

  19. Morning kathy,
I just came over to check on you and see if you were posting again, so went back thru a lot of your blog posts,
and just found out you are remarried. How wonderful for you both! Congratulations!
WE do serve a God who heals hearts, and I am so happy to hear of this sweet blessing, and a guy who can cook,
    that is truly wonderful!! lol

    Now about the kitchen gadgets:
I read somewhere and also did it...........that to take a shoe box or container that size and put all your gadgets that you don't use regularly in there and stick it in the garage or somewhere close by, then when you
need them you have them but they aren't clogging up your needed space in the kitchen. That actually worked
    really well for me..............
Well, no need to say Happy Valentine's Day to you cause I am sure it will be a delightful one! That is wonderful hon,
Love and Blessings to you, Nellie

  21. I feel your pain. I have a small kitchen and so every square inch counts. Not to mention alot of my recycling is there. But I have lived in a very large home before with a massive kitchen and with each move I have said..."If I only had two more feet." I was always one to put away appliances and all the gadgets. But in my older years... like last year...lol.. I decided that things within reach make for a happier cook. Giant glazed flower pots have proven to be my saving grace. Like with like and if after a year I havent used something...its off to Goodwill for some other soul to decide its fate. Good luck with figuring it all out.

  23. G'morning!! I had to laugh because one woman blogged that she stored stuff behind her draperies which billowed on the floor. Not sure I would do that..but baskets are wonderful and I use them a lot. After reading your blog I have a feeling storage is a problem you can solve with a snap of your talented little fingers! :)
    WONDERFUL photo's!! :)

  24. Hi Kathy! I'm missing you and hope all is well. I made some more shabby roses and poked them on some wreaths that are hanging on my front doors. Folks always ask how I made them and I always send them to your tutorial on your blog. I just love that you shared the directions and I do love making them. Big ones or little ones! Just so fun! I've even gone to using my warm glue gun when I ran out of tacky glue! :)
    Wishing you the best,
    Shelia ;)
