TIL I RETURN....

Sweet Friends....finding it hard to fit blogging into my everyday life at this time...
Although Dave continues to feel well....my Mom is not and needs some specific care.
There is a season for everything in these lives of ours ...and right now I must let blogging go for a while.
Hoping you all enjoy the rest of the summer and as we head into fall I pray the richest blessings upon each and everyone of you.
Love you all as you have enriched my life so...You will surely be missed.
Til I return.....

Out on the town...with a "HOTTIE"...

Downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan features a great selection of dining experiences for every imaginable taste...
Resently my man and I met our son and his wife for a little dinner at a restaurant they suggested...
NOW THERE'S A DOOR HANDLE !
They're know for their wide array of Pizza's.....with a huge variety of other choices as well.

Their fond of meat cleavers at One Trick Pony...You'll want to be on your best behavior!
I had an amazing shrimp salad....everyones food was out of this world!
I love it when the chef comes out to see how you liked his work!
We gave One Trick Pony ...8 fingers and two thumbs up!!!!

Lovely flowers outside...

Of course the best part was my HOTTIE date!....

Find an excuse...go out for dinner!

Adding a little FRENCH CHARM...

Using FOUND items to create a very FRENCH look.... Charming little bottle with stopper...GW.

Metals and Roseries....Garage sales, amazingly enough!

All sorts of unique bottles and vessels can be found at the GW and secondhand stores...
The two smaller jars held spices at one point...

Sachets of Lavender...ribbons, netting, shabby roses, buttons and pearls...
It all works...

Adding a little charm.....to the weekend...

GIVE A GIRL A MAKEOVER...!!!!!!!!!

I mean seriously....

who would want to go through life looking this BAD?

Sometimes you just have to do a table a favor!

Bring out her good features....give her a little color...put her back in the game!!!!

This gals seen some rough times....

She's in need of a day at the SPA!!!!

Applied a base coat of "Gripper"....love that stuff. Yeah....I refinish furniture in my kitchen...
I know....but I'm not messy, been doing that for years.

Light pink undercoat on the top...

Applied crackel and then a coat of white....

the white cracks and shows the pink underneath....Gotta love that!

Kept the bottom shelf and legs white...no crackel...just the top portion...

Crackel bowl...crackel table...

an obvious marriage...

I enjoy PRETTY...

this ugly duckling is now a beautiful swan...

THINGS...they come and they go...

Just a few minutes in someones home should tell you a lot about their likes and their weaknesses...

All things White and pastel....throw in a little Coastal,

Vintage, Shabby and whimsical sums it up for me.
Table = Ikea...

Wall words = Upper Case Living...

Angel backdrop = GW...

Pitcher = the Maxx...

Childrens vintage clothing = a weakness...

Satin gloves with pearl embellishments and crushed ribbon roses...

Hankies with tatting edges...a deliciously "huge" pin...

Things...are you good at holding onto THINGS loosly?

Enjoying them for a season and then letting them go?

Can you imagine if we never learned that?????

There would be NO Garage Sales....

Perish the thought!!!!!!!

Garage Sales...= the art of Circulating the STUFF!

Have you been out there lately?

Someones GW castoff...

I like castoffs.... Affordable ART!...

A little wire basket of soft pink shabbiness...

Bathroom essentials...

Vintage jars...

A little softness around the house...a lot of which belonged to someone else at some point!

xoxo~Kathy.

DOING WHAT I DO......

Doing some painting here and there...
these acorns were pretty dark.....
not anymore.... Thinking of Fall....
just around the corner you know...

Had some fun with this old bench.....
Stripes, polka dots, spirels, squiggles...just kind of went with it!

and the base of this lamp now a LIGHT minty green...MMmmmmmm.

Better hide it or I'll paint it!....
You have all touched our hearts with your outpouring of love and prayers through your comments , e-mails, and cards.
We count each and everyone of you a gift from above.
Dave feels well and although we are not using anymore chemo...we are actively incorporating numerous natural auto-immune boosters to Dave's diet.
God is mighty and mercyful...our hope lies in Him...not only in this life but in the hereafter.
I'm missing my daily blogging and as long as Dave is well I'm going to try and get back to it on a more frequent basis.
Our life together has been rich and blessed and we intend to live it out to it's fullest potential.
We count you as dear friends,
xoxo~Kathy and Dave.

I feel like my heart is bleeding sadness....

Got a minute?...
I'm not necessarily a conversational blog....
more pictures and art...but tonight I have only words.
Words and thoughts that need to be said so I can move on....we can move on.
Our visit to the Oncologist today was the culmination of my biggest fears.
To save you all the technical, medical mumbo jumbo....Just let me say that the cancer that was supposed to be a slow grower has now turned into an over achiever and become a fast grower.
There are now lesions on Daves lungs...more on the liver and colon.
Something showing up on his right leg below the knee and on it goes.........
there came a point when my mind as she was talking momentarily just checked out.
When I returned Dave was reassuring her that we would not be doing anymore chemo....
that he would not be trading in quality of life just to add a couple more months of longevity.
Not subjecting his family to witnessing the deterioration that would come with this horrific chemo that was being suggested with no guarantee of anything.
I sat there listening to him...like someone had robbed me of my tongue....dumbfounded and yet marveling at the way he was communicating. Like he was at a board meeting...eloquently bringing people around to his point of view through his earnest explaination.
I felt like I was witnessing the Holy Spirit speaking through him.
Have you ever had those moments? Straight from above?
When he finished...the oncologist looked at us and said something to the effect that if in this position herself she would hope she could make the same decision.....No Chemo.
We left with an appt. scheduled for a couple months
just to keep an eye on him , earilier if needed.
We were told Dave only has months...only God knows the days that are numbered upon this mans head.
God and God alone...
As a man who loves his family beyond anything...he is now about the business of getting things in order....knowing him as I do,
he will not rest until every" t "has been crossed and every "i "dotted.
Life on this earth is a "Gift"....going home to be with the Lord for eternity is the "Hope" of those who love HIM.
My man says he is ready....
My heart is bleeding "sorrow"...
I pray I am everything he needs me to be when the time comes....
God promises to supply when we need it.....I'm counting on it because HE always has.
Covet your prayers as we have Grands here until Sunday...the tears need to stay in my head until then.
Not my strenght at this point...
I wish you could really know this man...he is my strongest weakness.
I cannot imagine life here without him.
Please pray for my 4 grown children, if your a parent you know....
Our Grands are sleeping as I write this and my love is asleep also.
I needed this time to communicate to you my sadness for the moment...
I am fully aware that "Joy" will come in the morning.
I for one will welcome it with open arms.
God Bless, Kathy.

A LITTLE NESTING NEWS IN OUR HOUSE TODAY...

WANNA SHARE.....THE NEST?

This treasure has been patiently waiting for a re-do since it's days at the Goodwill...

Found this cement bowl with the cool rings on the sides...

at first I thought cactus would love it in there because there is a hole already in the bottom.

The birds won out...

I have two REAL birdsnests from the birthings this spring.

Yep this was a better idea...

Rusticly painted the outside beach water blue, and the inside a lighter shade...

nice and sloppy like...
Plopped my two favorite feathered friends next to the nest ...

They are sharing the nest so we have a mixture of eggs...

Shredded up some old music...for nesting material.

That shredder comes in handy for things like this...

Yep!...much better then cactus!...for now.
