Just like herbs add spice to our lives....
so do the friends and family we hold so dear...
Tomorrow is the day we have been ...
hoping for,
Praying for,
and somewhat anxious about since January 7th.
For those who have no idea what I'm talking about...a small recap here.
January 7th My Husband David was diagnosed with stage 4 Colon and liver cancer from a colonoscopy....( have you had yours yet?).
He has just finished 3 months of Chemo treatments with the hope being the Chemo would do it's job and shrink the tumors enough to have surgery and then another round of chemo.
If the chemo didn't work there would be no surgery...nothing they could do...
A rather bleak statement.
We prayed...YOU prayed....
GOD worked a wonder.
The tumors are now "unrecognizable"...an amazing statement.
If left like this they will grow back.
Tomorrow two different surgeons will exercise their God given gifts and remove these tumors along with 1 foot of Dave's ascending colon.
and if this isn't amazing enough...they are doing it laproscopically...I know, we couldn't believe it either!
We're looking at about 3-3 1/2 hours total for the 2 surgeries...without complications.
Dave will be another three days waiting for the peristalsis to start in his colon, the wavelike action that helps move food through your system, ( nicely put...don't you think!)
We are both impressed with these two Drs. and feel the hand of God in this whole process.
We again petition your prayers as to NO INFECTION after surgery...especially in the colon.
This could lead to a colostomy bag for no less then three months while healing takes place.
We don't want this to happen...DAVE doesn't want this to happen!
We are anticipating great success and a rapid healing due to Daves general good health ...(did I mention he ran a 1/2 Marathon last weekend!) I KNOW!!!!!
Took him a little longer due to the effects of the chemo...BUT, he did it...and his Drs. encouraged him to .
So there you have it...
Surgery is at 1:00pm tomorrow...
I will try and post as I get the chance...
YOU will never know how YOU have encouraged our hearts and increased our faith...by your faithfulness to prayer on our behalf...we will be eternally grateful.
xoxo~My Love and I.
I was just reading about praying for miracles and "coming boldly to the throne" this morning. That is what we will do! I will have you both in my prayers in the morning. Love to both~~

psalms 32:7
Sending prayers up to the heavens for Dave and you, Kathy. We are still working on similar prayers for Mr. S for continued healing of his knee and leg. He still is a gimpy Festus kind of guy. But he is getting along pretty good. He will be seeing another Dr. for a second opinion.

Your husband is going to have lots to celebrate and praise God for too! Your husband has come this far and I know that God has wonderful things planned for his life!!! Please keep us all posted on his progress and we will continue to pray!! May God hold you all in His hands tomorrow and may you have the peace that passes all understanding! Oh my word, Kathy, I had no idea...I am a cancer survivor myself (five times no less Hodgkins(twice) breast cancer, basal cell and squamous cell carcinomas). Please tell Dave that my prayers are with him, you and those who love you!
ReplyDeleteHe sounds like an incredibly strong man to have run a half marathon during or shortly after chemo...no way I could have done that!
So happy to hear that your prayers were answered and the chemo did its work! I will pray that the surgeons are at their best and that all goes smoothly and complication free!
I will also pray for you and your courage and energy to support him during the surgery and his recovery! Much love to you and your family!
xoxo Beth

Kathy, You and Dave have been in my prayers all week. May you feel His sweet presence tomorrow and rest in the comfort of all the prayers being said in Dave's behalf. We have a tender, merciful God who is capable of more that our human hearts can comprehend. As Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego replied,"If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us..." You have walked beautifully through through your blazing furnace and have been such a powerful witness to those of us watching. Please know that I will be praying for you both tomorrow. Many blessings, Patty
