ONE DAY OF STRAIGHT HAIR....NOT TWO OR THREE...ONLY ONE !!!!!!

Okay kids....I'm not a sponsor of "Self-grandisement"...this is just a little something I need to share... I was born with the curliest hair on the block...Cute when your a baby but the highschool years were agony...always trying to straighten it like my girlfriends...You know what I mean... Always have kept a real short cut just to manage the curls... 2 years ago I recieved a very BAD haircut and vowed on the spot to let it grow... Just once in my life. The photo below is the before...
About 8-10 inches off the back and she straightened it, ( Not permanently)... I just wanted to see what it would feel like with straight hair....Have you been there before? Then you know what I mean... This might not look like a big difference to you but it's huge to me...

The back is cut in a V and is shorter then the sides.....It'll never look like this again, because I'll never take the time to straighten it everyday...And If it's the least bit humid..It's is a lost cause!!!

Everyone is so used to hair EVERYWHERE.. that this is like WHOA...! Was fun to see peoples reactions, Ha! I washed it the next day....Now I have a cute cut with hair EVERYWHERE....again...and Life goes on....

Thank's for letting me get that out of my system... I enjoyed my one day of "Straight hair", xoxo~Kathy~

THE TOUCH, THE FEEL OF TEXTURES, THE FABRIC OF OUR LIVES...

Our lives are made up of such a variety of textures...Natural and synthetic. Touching and experiencing the effects of a world offering so many sensations to our senses can be sheer bliss... Line dryed cotton sheets against the skin after a hectic day...bliss. Holding a glass of Ice Tea to your cheek when the heat is in the three digits...relief. Opening the freezer door and putting MY face in during a hot flash.... Oh, sorry...a little more then you needed to hear...Ha. The coolness of metal....

To the various levels of SOFT in fabric...

Have you ever noticed how no two quilts ever feel the same...The thread count and tightness of weave to the amount of quilting all are factors. Quilting by hand and by Machine have different feels. Old loved and used quilts verses New showpiece ones...totally different to the touch. Try it sometime....Close your eyes and just feel....Such intertainment we have been gifted with right at the tips of our fingers...

Often times we feel something just by looking at it. Seeing an overstuffed chair in a magazine with sheers billowing in a doorwall leading down a sand drenched path to the ocean...You felt that didn't you? ...

Architecture...A plethora of mind boggeling textures... Take a look today...what textures make up your immediate world?....xoxo~ My friends...

Do Accessories enhance your room?...More on this living Room space...

This coral chair is the one color that "pops" in the room....everything else is more subdued...

Thank You Rachel for the reign of "Shabby Chic"....We applaud you girl!!!!!

Seaside reminders seem to be at home almost anywhere...

Sea green is another color that seems to fit well in this room...

Accessories are just a fun medium to play with...They can totally change the face of a space. Have you ever found a piece you loved , brought it home and proceeded to change the whole room around to accompany it? Congratulations!!! Your a Decorator!!!...

I've come to realize a frightening reality...There are DISHES in every room... And little animals hiding in the flowers...

Books lend a warmth to a room and an invitation to relax and escape... They work especially well when you need a lamp elevated for the shedding of more Light...

Had a creative moment on the top of this end table one day... The coral color matches the coral over stuffed chair... Then I went a little "artsie schmartsie" and created some INTEREST!!!! It turned out fun and Happy...

It is amazing how I used to Strip everything down years ago....Had to have everything down to the NATURAL wood... Which I still Love, but I guess we'll call this the "PAINTING YEARS"... Someone years from now will probably strip it down again while saying... " What would posess someone to put paint on this lovely table" .... and .....Life goes on! xoxo, Kathy.

VIRGINIA ROSE, Tablescape...

Hello my tablescaping "PEEPS"... INTRODUCING!!! ( drumroll, please)... Miss VIRGINIA ROSE....
Don't you LOVE her!!!!!... Found her hanging out at a local Antique establishment..

Paid for her and brought her home....( I've always wanted these dishes...)

Cut a few Peonies from the yard for the Centerpiece and placed them in this Lenox vase... ( Flea find)...

Can smell them from there can't you??? Table cloth is Rachel Ashwell's, Shabby Chic- Target... Pastel knives are from the Maxx...

A three tiered shabby tray purchased for $4.00 at a sale ... The tag attached to the tin flower arrangement is homemade...
The cutglass stemware is vintage...but new to me.
The goblet stemware...GW, and the Napkins...Hallmark.

Homer Laughlin manufactured this "Virginia Rose" pattern...

Well my peeps, hope that was fun...scroll up to the title, Virginia Rose Tablescape, and click ! Back you go to Tablescape Neverland, 80 or so tables dressed in their finest apparel, enjoy!!, xoxo~Kathy.

Mirror, mirror on the wall,,,I'll give you a mantel, acorns and all...

We have some interesting ceiling heights...and little nooks for interest. Our builder was a great guy for detail... Morning sunlight comes softly into this room... Having taught Basket Weaving years back... I have a few special ones I've saved around the house... This one I "Shabbied" up a bit...
My pastel wall colors are the result of a room I once saw in a magazine...Everywall was a different pastel color....I fell in love with it. Purple is the only color I omitted...Some colors we just need to grow into I guess. In another 5 years it may be my favorite!...

The crisp white trim pulls everything together...There's a thin strip of oak around all the trim and doors throughout ...Sort of our builders signature...

Rope lighting is tucked on the ledge behind the oak trim all the way around the room, beautuful in the evening...

This mirror was actually attached to a dresser that was damaged...fortunately I was in the right spot at the right time and salvaged it for a great deal...The arched top compliments all the arched doors and windows in the house...Felt it was a natural there...

My man made this mantel...(A crafty guy!) ...Possibly a fireplace underneath...someday. I made the plaster embellishments...leaves, acorns, tiny flowers...and attached them with cement glue. Painted the same color as the mantel , most people ask if it is all one piece... carved. From a distance it does look carved. I have an attraction to stars...If you haven't noticed already! They are all through the house. This one was an "Art Fair" find...

These metal stars are from a cute shop in Bay City called "Three French Hens"...

Candlesticks that have been "Pinkerized"...

Happy Wednesday my friends in bloggerville...xoxo~Kathy~.

Usually I see things pretty quickly...for some reason I'm a little stumped...

Well my friends...Heres the context of these little angles... We hung one over each window...

Here's a shot of the living room... showing how whatever I hang from there will have the curtains as a backdrop... I laid in bed last night thinking ...hhhmmmm...A fabulous ribbon tassel? For Christmas I would love huge glass or crystal bulbs with tassels hanging from the bottom, but for summer....hhhhmmmmm...
This girls definately open for suggestions....I shot over 60 photos of the living room this morning, will share more this week, hope your weather is superb today and all your plans fall into place, much love, xoxo~Kathy.

Pale Pink Angels....

This was love at first sight....Two matching iron angels...
Bring out the paint...
I hung them above my windows on either side of the arched door in the livingroom...

Now I must figure out what to hang from them...have any ideas???

I'll shoot the living room tomorrow and share some photos, xoxo~Kathy~
