Phyllis...Mixed Media Art...

This very somber lady is actually a relative on my husbands side...she came to us in a box with many photos of family members...We don't know who she is or any information on her so I thought I'd feature her in some mixed Media art. I picked up this name pin years ago at a sale and decided to "Marry " the two. I love these old photo tin types just as they are but this one I embellished with some rose fabric, lace, button and pin... It's the least we can do for forgetting her name!!!! I think I'll just call her Phyllis ...Maybe that really is her name! wouldn't that be amazing!..... Hugs sweet friends, xoxo~Kathy.

  1. Hi Kathy
    Oh how wonderful .
I wonder what fabulous sites Phyllis has seen over the years.
She reminds me of an old childrens book.
    Hitty's First Hundred Years.
I love what you have done for her.
I am sure she would be most gracious and tell you how truly her heart has been touched by your kind attention to her .
Blessings to you and Phyllis :)
    Have a wonderful week.
    Happy Trails
    Hugs

  3. Hello Kathy,
I can't believe this my first visit to your blog. It is just lovely. Those vintage photos just tend to make you ponder the years gone by, you did a wonderful job with your project.
    I will back to visit.

  4. Kathy,

I am so glad you came to visit me, because now I am here at your beautiful, creative blog. I have read the last couple of posts, but rather than comment on each one, I will do so here...

Phyllis, yes. Perfect name. Why do you never see someone just grinning away in an old photo?? Were they instructed to look serious?? LOL!! And I am happy to get a glimpse of your art. I am curious hoe you made the writing and with what. It is outstanding.

Further down, your birdhouse. Be still my heart. I have to order those seeds from Burpee. The flowers would look wonderful around my mailbox (hey, my lake house is in Michigan also; we are neighbors!!). I love your porch. Sometimes you see a picture of what someone has and you want to rip up what you have and start over!! Your front porch IS ME!!

Further down I enjoyed the close~up of all the beautiful pieces you have in your living room. Yes, close~ups are so nice. The little white birds really caught my attention. Someday I would love to see the whole room!!

When my children were younger, I didn't do much "thrifting". My home was decorated and other than rearranging, I didn't add too much. No room~no time! So while some have treasures collected over many years, I am just starting. And I still have time constraints. I am hoping that you ladies can help me out at the lake house where I have plenty of room and of course you know that in Michigan, you can take a wrong turn and end up at a garage sale with the most beautiful treasures~like that shabby chandelier!!

I am so sorry this is so long, Kathy. I think I am going to enjoy visiting your blog!!

Enjoy the rest of your week! :-)

    xoxo
