THREE MONTHS IS A...L O N G....TIME WHEN YOUR WAITING FOR GOOD NEWS...

WELL MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY....I WILL ATTEMPT TO UPDATE YOU WITH THE "READERS DIGEST " CONDENSED VERSION OF THIS PAST WEEKEND.
FRIDAY EVENING WE WERE CONTACTED AS TO THE RESULTS OF THE PET. SCAN.
THE LIVER NOW HAS TWO LARGE QUARTER SIZE SPOTS ( BOTH LOBES NOW....ORIGIONALLY ONLY ONE), AND SEVERAL SMALLER ONES.
OF COURSE LYNPH NODES ARE INVOLVED ...THAT'S HOW THE CANCER SPREAD FROM THE COLON TO THE LIVER. I DON'T KNOW WHY WE ARE NEVER READY TO HEAR THINGS ARE WORSE....WE BOTH, ALONG WITH OUR CHILDREN STARTED JOCKEYING THIS INFORMATION AROUND AND TRYING TO MAKE SENSE OF IT ALL...AN EMOTIONAL WEEKEND TO SAY THE LEAST.
TODAY WE MET WITH THE LIVER SURGEON AT 10:30...AND THE COLON SURGEON AT 1:30.
THEY BOTH AGREE THAT THIS THURSDAY DAVE WILL RECIEVE A PORT IN HIS LEFT SHOULDER TO RECIEVE CHEMO FOR THE NEXT 3 MONTHS...
IF...AT THE END OF THREE MONTHS A REPEATED PET.SCAN SHOWS THAT THE CHEMO IS SHRINKING THE CANCERS THEN SURGERY WILL BE SCHEDULED TO REMOVED THE SHRUNKEN LIVER SPOTS AND 1/3 OF THE COLON.
2 SURGERIES THE SAME DAY ...TWO DIFFERENT DRS.
WE ARE NOW BEYOND THE HOPE OF DOING EVERYTHING LAPROSCOPICALLY.
AFTER DAVE HEALS SUFFICIENTLY FROM THE SURGERIES...3 MORE MONTHS OF CHEMO.
NO ONE WANTS TO HEAR THIS PART...IF THE CHEMO DOESN'T WORK AND THERE IS MORE SPREADING AFTER THE FIRST THREE MONTHS...THERE WILL NOT BE ANY SURGERY AS IT WOULDN'T BE WORTH PUTTING DAVE THROUGH THAT.
THE CHEMO COCKTAIL PRESCRIBED IS THE MOST AGGRESSIVE THERE IS.
DAVE AND I AND THE CHILDREN ARE ALL READY TO FIGHT THIS DAMN THING ( YES I SAID DAMN ) . I HATE IT...AND I PRAY AGAINST IT HUNDREDS OF TIMES A DAY.
DAVE AND I PRAISE GOD DAILY FOR THIS FAMILY WE HAVE BEEN BLESSED WITH....OUR CHILDREN ARE TRYING THEIR BEST TO COPE WITH THIS NEWS AND GET IT TO A PLACE IN THEIR HEARTS THAT ISN'T PARALIZING...TIME ALWAYS SHEDS LIGHT AND BRINGS THINGS INTO PERSPECTIVE.
I TRUST AS TIME PASSES...WE WILL ALL CONTINUE TO BE AMAZED AT HOW GOD PROVIDES ...WHEN HIS PEOPLE CALL ON HIS NAME.
IF YOU WILL PRAY.....PLEASE PRAY THIS CHEMO HATES DAVES CANCER MORE THEN I DO....AND DEVOURS IT....AND THEN CASTS IT OUT....INTO OUTER DARKNESS...IN JESUS NAME...
AGAIN MY FRIENDS....KNOW THAT YOU ARE LOVED, XOXO~KATHY...

  21. Ohhhhh Kathy,
I am so very sorry to hear this most disturbing news, I can't even begin to imagine how you are all feeling! I would just remind you as I have to remind myself many times with my hubby, that just because the Drs. say it, doesn't make it so! Because we have a part to the equation that most Drs. don't and that is the Lord! But God! Drs. always give you the very worst case scenario because they have to,
but know you have the prayers of many many people for your Dave. We will be praying this Chemo does the work it was designed for and more. Thanks for letting us all know I am sure it was hard to type that!!

Father, I pray for Kathy and Dave right now,
that you would bring that sense of peace that only you can give! Cancer is a fearful word to all of us, and a word none of us every wants to hear, it strikes FEAR at the core of our being and we can't overcome it on our own.
We ask you Father, the giver of all good gifts,
to take away this paralyzing fear that they all feel. Dave's life is in your hands, and your hands alone, no matter what the Drs. say,
he is not going anywhere before you are ready for him! I pray that the chemo would produce amazing results in these next months and that these months will truly fly by for this family.
Three months seems like an eternity at times like these, but Lord we know you can do amazingly abundantly more than we can ever think, hope or imagine. We ask you for a miracle from your hand, and that their faith will be strong and visible to everyone involved, and that you will do this miracle in a way, that everyone involved will know it can only be YOU!!
We ask these things in the precious name of our Savior the Lord Jesus Christ,
    Amen!!

  28. Dear Kathy, this is not the news I wanted to hear. My prayers for your husband and your family continue. My best friend, had breast cancer three years ago. She had to have chemo to shrink the tumor before her mastectomy, too. Lymph nodes were involved. Chemo continued for the next year. She is now cancer free and just had her port removed last month. I have faith your husband will be a survivor also! Twyla

  30. Kathy, my heart goes out to you. I went through major illnesses with my mother (lung cancer) husband (necrotizing fasciitis) and my father (complications of diabetes) all within 2 years. I lost both of my parents and almost lost my husband. I know how stressful and hard it can be to deal with serious illnesses of those we love so much. I will pray for you and your family.

    Blessings, Deb

  35. Oh Kathy, this is going to be a rough 3 months ahead for all of you. My father had a test done last week on his liver, and everything has remained the same. I don't know if I mentioned how they took these teeny tiny chemo seeds, smaller than a grain of rice, and placed it on the liver where the cancer was growing. My father is in his 70's. There is hope in all things, Kathy.

  36. 1st of all, I am praying. Secondly, and believe me on this....3 months will be done in a flash. He may not think so, but you will. All the running, the learning, the work...it will be over soon. If he is getting a strong cocktail...it may not be fun, but it is the best stuff to take care of that nasty stuff. I have spots on my liver and near my colon. They still talk about more surgery. Stay strong. I have a CT on Tuesday and trust me...I am worried. Just want some good results!
    I hate CANCER.

I pray that you and Dave will feel God's loving hand upon your shoulders as He walks this path with you. Praying His mercies and blessings upon you and your family,

I am thankful for you that you are not alone in this battle. You have your family, your faith and your bloggers. We will pray for your family! Take care of yourself too! We learned yesterday that a friends 17 month old grand baby has leukemia. The outpouring of love and prayers are giving that family strength to fight this horrible battle as will yours.
