WE HAVE A PLAN...

Yesterday was our initial vist at the Lemmen -Holton Cancer Pavilian...My love...the Chiropractor and I came away encouraged...Next thursday a PET scan is scheduled...if nothing else crops up the plan will roughly look like this...
A port will be inserted in Dave's shoulder for chemo- treatments...three months worth,
after that two surgeries...removal of approx. 1/3 of the colon, ( secum area) and then removal of the two spots on the anterior portion of the right lobe of the liver...
If all goes well there is a possibility the two surgeries could be done at the same time and Laproscopically...( which would be a hugh plus).
Once Dave has healed from the surgery....another three months of chemo.
this is roughly the plan...open to change at any time.

PLEASE ALLOW ME TO ESPRESS HOW MUCH WE ALL HAVE BEEN BLESSED BY YOUR OUTPOURING OF LOVE AND CONCERN...YOUR PRAYERS HAVE CARRIED US THESE PAST COUPLE WEEKS, ALLOWING US TO GET TO THE POINT WHERE BREATHING SEEMS NATURAL AGAIN.
YOUR EXPRESSIONS OF LOVE THROUGH CARDS...FLOWERS...EMAILS...HUGS AND TEARS ARE LIKE A FINE RAIN ON A THIRSTY DESERT...
WE ARE OVERWHELMED.

MANY OF YOU HAVE ASKED HOW TO PRAY SPECIFICALLY...
WE WOULD COVET YOUR PRAYERS AS TO THE PET SCAN RESULTS....NO MORE SURPRISES...THE SCAN SHOULD SHOW THE TRUE PERSONALITY OF THE LIVER SPOTS AND HOPEFULLY THAT ALL THE CANCER IS CONTAINED ONLY IN THE COLON AND RIGHT LOBE OF THE LIVER... IF THAT'S THE CASE...WE CAN DO THIS.
MY MOST URGENT REQUEST IS THAT THE CHEMO WOULD TREAT MY LOVE WITH THE RESPECT HE DESERVES...TO BE KIND TO HIM WITH AS FEW SIDE EFFECTS AS POSSIBLE...
THANK YOU ALL AHEAD OF TIME FOR YOUR CONTINUED PRAYERS AND CONCERN... Before we left the office we all heard the words..."We can beat this"...
and that my friends....IS THE PLAN!...XOXO~KATHY.

  5. Hi Kathy and Dave,
As a colon cancer and breast cancer, I feel the
confusion and the anxiety you are feeling. That was the thing for me, once they made the plan, I just prayed constantly, and boy, did I lean on Jesus...He has been my constant helper and friend...One day at a time..enjoy every moment that you can with all the gusto you can.
I agree with you in prayer and believing that all will be well, and all will be well...
    ((((Kathy & Dave))))
    walk in peace and trust...

  6. It is always better to know rather than wonder. In case you don't know, the PET scan is nothing. Not painful or anything. Make sure you come home with a pain killer when he gets the port. Some people have none, I did have pain...and no meds. Get them in case you need them. I had 15 months straight of chemo... it isn't the funnest thing in the world, but I KNOW he can do it! Thanks for the update...you are in my prayers.

  7. Thank you for this update Kathy.

Two years ago next month, J began his cancer journey. Hoping things go as well as they have for J. He remains cancer free, after two years.

Keeping you both in my thoughts and prayers.

  8. Hello Kathy, Will keep thinking good thoughts and prayers for both of you! The one great thing about the liver (among all the other wonderful things it does) is that it is the one organ that will re-grow. Our bodies are amazing!
    Take Care!

  27. It's good to have a plan. I know on much more mundane items - even what are we doing this weekend or how late a friend is going to be - I always say, "Just tell me the plan." I find that I can easily adapt myself to whatever is going on, if I have a plan.

You'll continue to be in my prayers.
