springerle

let them rest covered with a towel...overnight...Then lightly brush a little h20 on the bottoms with your finger and place on a greased cookie sheet sprinkled with Anise seeds...

They puff up quickly as if thanking you for bringing them to life!!!!.... bake at 300 for 20 min.

Anise seed...love it ... hate it....I choose LOVE...

I store mine in a jar with a slice of apple....for about a month....NOW THEY ARE AT THEIR BEST!!!!!!!

SPRINGERLE....PACKED WITH DECADES OF CHRISTMAS MEMORIES...xoxo~Kathy.

  8. I bought a rolling pin like that because I thought it was pretty. I never imagined that I would really use it. But, after seeing this post I feel compelled to give it a try. I happen to love the flavor of anise. Thanks for sharing your recipe and the beautiful photos too.

To answer your question yesterday, I grew up in Livonia and then moved to Northville after getting married. As soon as I saw the name of your blog I knew you were a Michigander :-)

  10. I know this is an older post, but I am looking back. You have no idea what a memory this gave me looking at the Springerles. My grandma and mom made them every Christmas. I loved them. I have the rolling pin. I had no recipe, cuz everything was done by memory. I really cannot tell you how much this touched my heart. Thank you!
